One of the best things about an elopement is how simple it can be.

With big, traditional weddings, it can be so easy to get sucked into the details and forget about what you should be focusing on – you and bae’s love story. When you elope, there are so many less decisions that it’s easy to keep the focus on your love. Taya and Becky’s winter elopement in Telluride was a perfect example of simplicity. From getting ready to vows to capturing their big day, they didn’t overthink anything and kept the focus on themselves.

The Details

  • Taya was going to be in Telluride for a work trip, so they capitalized on the opportunity to elope!
  • After getting ready together, we drove about 45 minutes to Ouray to a stretch of road called the Million Dollar Mile.
  • We found a gorgeous spot to pull off for them to do private vows. You would never know it, but I was nowhere near these two when they shared vows. I always respect my couples’ privacy.
  • Vows were followed with a pizza picnic and more dreamy, snowy photos.
  • Then we headed back to downtown Telluride to grab some photos with all the Christmas decorations. The town gives major Hallmark movie vibes – the photos came out STUNNING.

Must Knows

  • Becky and Taya’s winter elopement in Telluride took place in December, which meant a lot of roads and trailheads were shut down for safety. Being a Colorado local, I knew that would be the case, so I made sure to have a plan for their perfect elopement spot.
  • Obviously, it’s frickin’ freezing here in December, especially up in the mountains. I always encourage my couples to wear layers under their elopement ‘fits, like thermal leggings, thick socks, and boots. That’s exactly what these two did, and you couldn’t even tell in their photos. Comfort should always be a priority, even on your elopement day.
  • Their day was super simple, which is exactly what they wanted. It was important to Taya and Becky to have private time together and avoid large crowds, so that’s exactly the day I designed for them. My couples are my priority, and I always do my best to deliver the exact type of day you and bae are after.
