The wedding world sucks at reflecting all types of love in their work.

That’s where I come in. I create space for couples who don’t always see themselves in mainstream wedding publications, like sapphic couples. Emily and Mary came out to Colorado wanting the true mountain elopement experience, so we headed up to Loveland Pass for a casual day that perfectly reflected their love for each other.

Sapphic Mountain Elopement Details

  • Mary and Emily got ready together (in matching outfits!) in an Airbnb up in the mountains. They picked such a cute spot, so it was perfect for the small detail photos indoors and sweet couple photos in the backyard. Just look at it!
  • I love the attention to detail these two put into their outfits. Mary felt most comfortable in a suit, while Emily really wanted a dress, and I loved how it all came together.
  • Once they were ready, we headed up to Loveland Pass for them to share private vows. After they said, “I do,” they celebrated with some cake, champagne, and beer!
  • We spent the rest of the day hanging out and taking photos. We saw an EPIC sunset and stayed until it got dark, so they have a ton of different lighting situations and vibes to choose from in their pictures.

Sapphic Mountain Elopement Must Knows

  • I always encourage my couples to take the time to find a really solid Airbnb. If the weather isn’t cooperating, the Airbnb is always plan B, so it’s important that the design and decor are something you won’t fucking hate. The perk of having a super cute Airbnb is you can take most of your photos there, which helps create a really chill and easy timeline.
  • If you don’t like champagne, why are we going to celebrate with champagne? Emily and Mary enjoy both, so we toasted with both! Don’t do what’s “traditional” if it doesn’t fit your vibe.
  • This elopement was in July, so the sun stayed out pretty late for us. Summer is a beautiful time up in the mountains with all the wildflowers blooming, but the weather can be unpredictable. You’ll need to be mentally prepared to roll with a plan B.
  • Can we PLEASE move past the idea that sapphic couples only want non-traditional weddings and elopements? Queer couples can want whatever they want for their wedding day. If both partners want to wear a dress, go for it! If both want to wear a suit, hell yeah. For Mary, she wasn’t comfortable in a suit, so she picked a sick suit that she felt great in. Emily fucks with dresses, so she picked something she loved. Any and all other preferences are OKAY! It’s about damn time we rewrite the “rules” of “tradition.”
