I’ve photographed a lot of weddings and elopements, but I have never seen a couple plan their entire day around a wedding dress.

But Siegen and Taylor did that. They did THAT! The aesthetic of their wedding at The Oaks at Plum Creek was really important to them, and they had no shame about it. Which you shouldn’t! Create whatever vibes and aesthetic you want. It’s your damn day.

The Details

  • The Oaks at Plum Creek is a one-of-a-kind wedding venue in Castle Rock, Colorado, which is just 25 minutes south of Denver. If you and bae want a venue with everything onsite and that’s easy to get to, this is IT.
  • The FLOWERS you guys! I need to tell you about them. Siegen trusted me to find a florist who could bring her dress to life with florals and make guests feel like they were stepping into a garden. I knew my fave Kara, from KaraKara Blooms, was the obvious choice. She fucking popped off. The multiple colors were done in such a tasteful way. Like do you see the little grass feet under the chairs? God, this wedding was so good.
  • Taylor and Siegen got ready separately and opted not to do a first look. I captured photos of them getting ready and with their wedding party before the ceremony started.
  • During the ceremony they shared handwritten vows, which was really emotional and super sweet. It was important to them to get couple photos with their ceremony florals, so we made time for that once everyone headed over to cocktail hour.
  • Dinner was immediately after cocktail hour, and the food at The Oaks at Plum Creek is insane. They have in-house catering and everything we had was just incredible.
  • After dinner, everyone headed over to the bar and lounge space for an epic dance party. The DJ kept everyone on the dance floor, and I loved seeing how much fun everybody was having.

Must Knows

  • This wedding at The Oaks at Plum Creek was in September. We were very intentional about the timing of the entire day to make sure the sun complemented their ceremony set up. They didn’t want to be blinded by the sun, so we chose to start the ceremony at 5 p.m.
  • The Oaks is a pretty blank slate. They do provide a lot, like everything you need for dinner, getting ready spaces, and location options for your ceremony, but as far as design, it’s totally up to each couple. I’ve typically seen really neutral and minimalistic weddings at The Oaks, so I absolutely loved that Siegen and Taylor went all in. They completely transformed the space with their florals. It was fucking incredible.
  • Everything about this day was extremely intentional. Even though they were very committed to their aesthetic, they also wanted their personalities and relationship to shine through. A big part of why they hired me was so I could guide them through the planning process. I got together with their wedding coordinator and all the vendors to explain the vision they wanted. From there, Taylor and Siegen really just had to say yes or no.
  • Starting price for a wedding at The Oaks at Plum Creek is $14,000, but they say couples typically spend around $20,000. You get access to a lot! They provide several ceremony sites, a ballroom, bar and cocktail lounge, getting ready spaces, and a speakeasy game room. Plus, you’ll get in-house culinary and bar services, tables and chairs, linens and place settings, service staff, and an event day coordinator.
