The Grand Lake Lodge has everything you need for a rustic wedding, all in one place.

With lodging, a restaurant, ceremony and reception spaces, killer views, PLUS a pool, it was easy for Jake and Eli to host their wedding at Grand Lake Lodge. It’s right on the western edge of Rocky Mountain National Park and overlooks the beautiful Grand Lake. There was plenty of room for all their guests, but still delivered an intimate feel.

The Details

  • Eli and Jake have two daughters. They wanted their wedding day to be focused on family unity rather than just their marriage. The girls were very involved in all aspects of the day, and they got to spend intentional quality time together as a family.
  • Eli is a musician, so it was also important to incorporate her guitar in some way since it’s a big part of her life. We did some photos with it while she was getting ready – SO badass.
  • Their vision for their wedding day was a fairy garden, which you’ll see in their ceremony florals and tablescapes at the reception. Their florist, KaraKara Blooms, fucking delivered. It felt like we dived into a mossy floral oasis. Paired with the rustic theme of Grand Lake Lodge, it was perfect.
  • The reception was one of the most epic parties I’ve ever photographed. Jake and Eli even went down to the pool area, where other lodge guests were, and invited them down to the wedding to party. It was a blast!

Must Knows

  • These two made it easy for their friends and family by renting out some cabins at the lodge for everyone to stay in. Without the hassle of people having to get to and from the wedding location, the day was super smooth.
  • Eli and Jake also hired a planner, which was amazing! Hitched AF is one of my good friends and is an expert at putting together the perfect wedding timeline. She created a day that allowed Jake and Eli to enjoy their wedding at Grand Lake Lodge by taking each moment step by step. I highly recommend her for anyone getting married in Colorado!
  • This was an eight-hour day for me, which allowed time for getting ready photos, the ceremony, family photos, cocktail hour, the reception, and epic late-night dance party. I also had a second shooter, my bestie Katie Fletcher Photography. For bigger weddings like this, a second shooter lets us capture all different types of angles and not slow down the timeline.
