When the mountains in Colorado are dusted with snow, it’s insanely beautiful.
Kaitlyn and Jack came all the way from Illinois for those mountain views, and I captured some snowy Colorado engagement pictures for them! This was their first time in front of the camera together, so it was my goal to make their engagement pictures a super special experience for them.
The Details
We took their snowy Colorado engagement pictures at the end of October at Loveland Pass. They really wanted snow on the mountain tops in their photos, so we roamed around to get the perfect backdrop.
They brought two outfits, so we switched up the views to capture two different vibes. You’d never know these spots are only like two minutes apart!
Jack and Kaitlyn didn’t have any specific uses in mind for their photos, they just wanted pictures to show off while celebrating their engagement.
Must Knows
All of my engagement sessions are two hours, which is plenty of time for two outfits and two different locations, given they’re a reasonable distance from each other. I really encourage couples to try and get two completely different looks out of their engagement pictures. I loved that Kaitlyn chose color for one outfit and then a more neutral vibe for the other.
Hiring a photographer who prioritizes your comfort is SO important if you and bae haven’t spent much time in front of a camera. I gave these two some more direction and poses at our first location to get them warmed up and more comfy. Then, once we switched locations and the sun started popping off, I was able to lean into the editorial vibes a bit more because I had taken the time to make sure they were comfortable.
October up in the mountains can be unpredictable. We lucked out with snow and mild temperatures for their snowy Colorado engagement pictures. Thank god we weren’t freezing our asses off. But we also could’ve wound up with a freezing, windy day. Make sure you’re ready to pivot to a plan B if you want photos at a high altitude.
