I love a winter wedding, especially when it doesn’t require me to wear snowpants.

Shelby and Kyle had a beautiful winter intimate wedding at The Broadmoor, an award winning, 5-star hotel in Colorado Springs. They loved that they got to share such a memorable experience with their closest friends and family, while still incorporating the Colorado views they’ve come to love as locals.

The Details

  • These two stayed at The Broadmoor with their family, which made getting ready a breeze. Kyle and Shelby decided not to do a first look, and instead wrote each other letters to read before the ceremony.
  • Shelby wore a jumpsuit which I’m still obsessed with. I loved that she chose something alternative but that still delivered the bridal vibe she wanted.
  • Once everyone was ready, we drove over to Cheyenne Mountain Amphitheater where they had their ceremony. It was important for them to have mountain views, and the amphitheater delivered.
  • We did some family photos after the ceremony, but we were all dying to get back to the hotel to take more pictures. The Broadmoor is seriously stunning.
  • I had SO much fun photographing Shelby and Kyle in the morning. I convinced them to go back to their room with me after the ceremony so I could take more photos with my flash. We had the best time, and the photos turned out so badass.
  • We pre-gamed their family dinner with some champagne in their bathroom, which was fucking epic!

Must Knows

  • We had to get a permit from The Broadmoor to take photos around their property. Most hotels require this, so don’t just assume you can show up and take pictures!
  • Since these two wanted a winter wedding, we had limited choices for their ceremony location. Cheyenne Mountain Amphitheater was ultimately the best venue that was open, allowed family to be present, allowed ceremonies, and had a great mountain view.
  • Shelby and Kyle were super clear that their intimate wedding at The Broadmoor was a winter wedding, NOT a Christmas wedding. Just because you’re choosing to get married around a holiday does not mean you have to subscribe to that holiday’s colors, vibes, etc.
  • These two took my advice super seriously, which I really appreciated. They had all their details together in one place for me and kept their hotel room super clean. Little things can add up, and their attention to detail made my job easy.
  • This was a five-hour day for me, which allowed time for getting ready photos, traveling to their ceremony spot, family photos, and some time to play at The Broadmoor before dinner.
