Where are my couples at that want the iconic Colorado mountains as a backdrop for their wedding, but don’t necessarily want to be all up in the mountains?

Hi, let me introduce you to the new “It” venue – The Barn at Sunset Ranch. Built-in 2018, this Buena Vista, Colorado venue is on the PERFECT piece of land with amazing 360-views of the Collegiate Peaks. You and bae can say your vows in front of a rustic arch and then head over to celebrate in their 5,000 square foot barn. And by barn, I mean their heated, air-conditioned, bathrooms-included reception area – nothing but the best here!

To top it off, there are nothing less than five-star reviews for The Barn at Sunset Ranch, with happy couples gushing over how perfect the location was and how kind, considerate, and attentive the owners are. If you’re looking for a wow-factor, you found it.

Have your heart set on Sunset Ranch? Here are some tips:

  • The word is out about this place and it’s booking FAST. They have some Winter 2021 availability, but Summer 2022 is already booked full. If this is your dream spot, you need to book it ASAP. Check out their full calendar here.
  • They are super upfront about their pricing and what’s included. PRAISE! You guys know I preach being transparent about pricing because budgets are so important when planning an elopement or wedding. Kudos to Sunset Ranch for making that info accessible. You can see all that info and FAQs here.
  • Because it’s fairly out in the open, it can get windy. And I mean windy. It will obviously vary day by day, but keep in mind wind can be a challenge. There are also not a ton of options for shade besides being in the barn, so if you’re saying “I do” in the summer, remember that when planning.
  • Buena Vista is a small town, which means there aren’t a ton of hotel options. Look into this early – you may need to find locations further out.
  • The barn can accommodate up to 180 people. If you want a bigger wedding, this might not be the best location.

"Hiring McKenzie to photograph our wedding was single-handedly the best decision we made when planning our wedding. Wedding planning and vendor research was so stressful, and once we had Kenzie, she stepped in as support and helped us with narrowing down things that were important to us and to figure out what we really wanted.  wish we could get married over and over again just to recreate these and work with Kenzie again! "You will not find another wedding photographer who has the McKenzie signature style- she can capture the absolute beauty of the area and people all at once. She can shoot in a variety of settings and lightings and the photos are all gorgeous. One of the main reasons we booked McKenzie was the fact that she showcases a diverse clientele and finds beauty in all beings- something not all photographers can say.As a plus size bride who was extremely worried about looking back at my wedding pictures with dread that I wouldn't look like those gorgeous girlies on Instagram- this meant so much to me. "When we got engaged, we searched near and far for an elopement photographer - & we met with several different photographers but none felt right until we met McKenzie. My husband, my dog and I are avid hikers - we wanted a beautiful hike and view, but it was also very important that we could be our authentic selves and intimately celebrate our 10 years together in the way we wanted. I'll be honest, I was shy about wanting to elope (ya know, family opinions and such), but McKenzie made us feel so comfortable in our decision. She wholeheartedly welcomed us being.. us! We couldn't have asked for more."
