Never have I ever been part of a surprise wedding before.

But Val and Phalisia changed that! These two have been married for awhile, but didn’t do anything elaborate for their wedding. When Phalisia reached out about wanting to surprise Val with the day of their dreams, I knew a wedding at Juniper Mountain House would be the perfect location.

About Juniper Mountain House

This place is EPIC! It’s perfect for couples who want to host all the pieces of their wedding in one place. Juniper Mountain House is a boutique hotel tucked in the woods on 10 acres of land. You’ll have the whole place to yourself on your wedding day, which includes two lounges, a bar, two deck areas, an outdoor fire pit, and hot tub. And because it’s a hotel, everyone can stay onsite, cutting out the hassle of going back and forth between different places. This venue is in Evergreen, Colorado, which isn’t too far from downtown Denver. For being so close to the city, it still delivers on the typical Colorado vibe a lot of couples are looking for.

Phalisia and Val’s Wedding at Juniper Mountain House

The Surprise

The most important element for this wedding was to find a venue that could accommodate our surprise. Juniper Mountain House had the perfect set up for a surprise wedding. There are two ways to get into the ceremony space, so while we were doing our “styled shoot” inside the main house, the planner and venue team were getting all the family members in the right place. I couldn’t have done it without them! The moment Val saw everyone was so beautiful.

The Reception

After Val and Phalisia said “I do,” we took some sweet family photos (the pics with their daughter are so precious!) before heading to the covered patio for an intimate dinner. The space is so secluded yet still has the perfect amount of room to set up for a meal while including space for dancing. Because these two didn’t have any family present when they first got married, the speeches their loved ones gave were so memorable. Everyone was in tears, and I’m so happy I got to capture those sweet moments for them.
