Weddings at Denver Botanic Gardens can accommodate a little bit of everything.
Denver Botanic Gardens has a great mix of indoor and outdoor wedding spaces that range from small intimate spaces to large pavilions that can host a massive party. If you’re considering a wedding at the gardens, there’s a ton of information to take in. Let’s break down everything you need to know about getting married at Denver Botanic Gardens.
Getting Married at Denver Botanic Gardens is Great for Couples Who:
Are looking for all the formal aspects of a wedding in Denver without the formal price tag
Want to host an intimate wedding (less than 30 people) or a huge celebration
Don’t want to drag their family an hour and a half outside of Denver to the mountains
Want to host a more luxury experience for family and friends
Want a stress-free day by having their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one spot
The Cost of Getting Married at Denver Botanic Gardens:
There are 12 different indoor and outdoor locations at Denver Botanic Gardens that you can choose from for your wedding, and each one has a different cost. Prices start at $1,000 and go up to $8,000+, and you can choose to reserve the space for either a half day or full day. Each spot can also accommodate way different party sizes – as few as 20 people and as many as 1,300. I included a list below with the vibes and capacity for each location option. All sites are available seven days a week, but availability can vary based on the season. It’s honestly a ton of information to simplify, and pricing changes often, so your best bet is just to reach out and schedule a visit!
Where You Can Get Married at Denver Botanic Gardens:
Romantic Gardens site – This location is perfect if you want garden party vibes. Roses surround it, giving it a really classic feel. The Romantic Gardens can fit 250 people seated for a ceremony, and you would need to choose a different site for the reception.
Annuals Garden and Pavilionsite – Say “I do” under a covered pavilion with the sound of water in the background. Choose this spot if you’re nervous about the weather since it offers cover. You can fit 200 people seated for a ceremony and around 120 seated for a reception.
Woodland Mosaic and Solarium site – This is hands down my favorite space for getting married at Denver Botanic Gardens! It’s one of the more private locations and is perfect for an intimate wedding. The space seats about 50 guests for a ceremony and fits around 40 once you flip it for the reception.
South African Plaza site – This secluded area accommodates more guests than the solarium. You’ll also get relaxing water sounds here! Plan to be able to seat about 80 guests for your ceremony and 60 for a seated reception.
Water Garden Gazebosite – This spot is beautiful, with bridges and water all around. It’s best for intimate gatherings or even an elopement. The Water Garden Gazebo can hold around 30 people for a seated ceremony and 20 for a seated reception.
West Terracesite – Perfect for my party people! This is a tented space that overlooks a pool and includes twinkle lights to really set a romantic vibe. Say “I do” in front of 250 people at your ceremony and party with 175 guests for a seated reception.
UMB Bank Amphitheater site – This covered option gives you peace of mind. You’ll also get twinkle lights here and a beautiful view of the garden. It can hold up to 1,200 people for a seated ceremony (damn) and 600 for a seated reception. If you want something that looks intimate and cozy in photos, this may be too big.
Orangery site – This versatile space combines indoor and outdoor options, giving you flexibility no matter the weather. It’s right next to the greenhouses and features lots of plants, glass windows, and glass garage doors. An indoor reception with the doors closed can fit 100 guests, and if you open the doors you can add 50 to that number. If you want your ceremony in the Orangery, you’ll need to put in a special request.
Mitchell Hall site – Mitchell Hall is nice, but if you’re saying “I do” at the Denver Botanic Gardens, why would you want to be inside?! It’s a basic ballroom with a dome ceiling, and it can hold 330 people for a seated ceremony and 300 for a seated reception.
Marnie’s Pavilionsite – This spot is also indoors, but it’s a little more outdoorsy than Mitchell Hall. It has a tropical garden with beautiful orchids and a view of the greenhouses. It does have a balcony, so if you want to fit more guests you’ll need to do multi-level seating for your reception. The balcony itself holds 80, while multi-level fits 120. This is a another space that requires a request for a ceremony.
Gates Hallsite – This is an intimate indoor space, but again, I don’t think it’s anything special. The outdoor spaces are WAY better in my opinion. Seat 90 people here for both a ceremony and reception.
Welcome Gardensite – This isn’t a dedicated ceremony or reception space, but it’s a beautiful add-on if you want to elevate the experience for your guests. It gives you a private entrance to the gardens, and there’s a cute secret path that connects right to the Romantic Gardens space. It would be perfect for cocktail hour or welcome drinks if you choose that site! It can hold 175 people for a standing reception.
What You Need to Know About Getting Married at Denver Botanic Gardens:
Denver Botanic Gardens does have space on site for the bride and groom to get ready, but I do not recommend it. There are no windows, and it’s just a plain, beige room. If getting ready photos are important to you, listen up. When you look for lodging, find an Airbnb that has a space you love and can use for getting ready.
You won’t be the only one with a wedding at Denver Botanic Gardens on your date. Since they have multiple ceremony spaces, they will book multiple weddings on the same day.
The gardens don’t close to the public until 7 p.m., so there will be randos walking around throughout your wedding day. If privacy is important to you and bae, I really think the solarium location is your best option! It’s already in a pretty private spot, but they also block off the sidewalk that leads to it so no one can walk down there. You could also ask about a buy out or the best time to start your ceremony if you want to avoid crowds.
You’re free to set up your chosen wedding site however you want, within reason. You will need to rent tables, chairs, etc., but you’re free to arrange things in whatever way makes sense to you.
There are music and sound restrictions for whatever location you choose, but they’re obviously stricter for their outdoor sites. Keep that in mind if you want to throw a late-night banger.
If you want the beautiful flowers and greenery, the earliest I would recommend getting married at Denver Botanic Gardens is early May. Most things will still be brown and dead before that.
When you have your wedding at Denver Botanic Gardens, you also get access to the entire grounds for photos. It’s so much fun to run around and take gorgeous pictures while everything is in bloom.
