Have you ever been to a wedding where the couple Iced each other in the middle of the ceremony?

Me neither. But thanks to Brittany and Christian’s Blue Lakes elopement, I can now say I’ve seen someone get Iced during their big day. What a freaking memory for them!

These two came out to Colorado to elope because Christian travels around the country for work, so it just made sense for them to hit the road for their “I dos”. They both made me feel SO loved in their presence and it was an honor to capture their Blue Lakes elopement.

The Details

  • The Blue Lakes Trailhead is near Breckenridge, so Brittany and Christian rented a house in town so they had somewhere to relax and get ready for their big day. Bonus points for the included hot tub!
  • Christian’s grandma passed away before these two got married, so he brought a photo of her along so she could be there. It was a super sweet moment.
  • She ICED his ass while we were taking pictures. The pics I got are hilarious – what a baddie.
  • They signed their marriage license in a bar afterwards because none of us had a pen up on the mountain. Woops.

Must Knows

  • Brittany and Christian wanted mountain views as their backdrop, but the most important thing for them was enjoying time afterward by doing things they could replicate when they visit Colorado again.
  • Once we got back to Breckenridge, we stopped at a bar for unity shots and then they went off on their own for an intimate dinner. Both will be great traditions they can hold onto whenever they’re back for a trip.
  • Documenting all the memories of their day was also super important for them, so in addition to hiring me they also hired a videographer. If a videographer fits into your budget, I ALWAYS encourage my couples to hire one. I love the art of photography to capture memories, but I also know how powerful the art of video can be for my couples.
