This past year has been fucking crazy, but I couldn’t be more grateful to own my own company that’s helping couples have the Colorado elopement experience of their dreams. I know I’m a little behind on the Spotify Wrapped madness (mainly because I’m team Apple Music), but this is my attempt to “wrap” my year. Here’s how 2022 went down.
42 – The number of Colorado elopements and intimate weddings I shot this year. If you want a sneak peek of the magic, check out my blog. You can find selfies with my badass couples throughout my website!
20 – The minimum amount of times I nailed my camera on a door frame. Ya girl is clumsy.
5 – How many trips I took out of state to shoot an elopement. My amazing couples brought me to Utah (Arches National Park), Traverse City Michigan, Montana (Glacier National Park), Virginia, and Arizona (Cathedral Rock). I’m always down to travel for an elopement! Where do you think all my Southwest free drink coupons come from?
50 – The number of doggos I pet. I’m deprived, okay? Elopements with furry friends and dog-friendly businesses = my FAVE.
4 – New additions to my tattoo collection.
1 – Kickass educational workshop! I stepped away from education a bit this year, but my bestie Victoria and I teamed up for an in-person workshop in Denver to teach 11 photogs how to sell more, improve their client experience, and get out of their creative rut. It was my first workshop since 2020 and it was even sponsored by Photographer’s Edit.
3 – Notable times I busted my shit on a trail in front of a couple. As I said before, clumsy.
30 – How young I turned this year. I hate birthdays, but I had so much fun mourning the start of my 30s with my favorite bad bitches in California. I have the best support system in the world and couldn’t do what I do without them. Check out my Insta to see how wild we got.
9606 – The number of miles I drove for my amazing couples and their amazing days.
2 – Amazing shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater seeing Caamp & Sublime.
1 – Another magazine feature this year! The Colorado Wedding Magazine featured me and a few of my elopement couples in June. It was such a shock, but features are always a highlight in my career.
78329479832 – Number of walls climbed. Alex and I got into rock climbing when we lived in Illinois and now it’s one of our favorite things to do together. It’s the best way to decompress after a long day. That shit is HARD (watch some of my Insta stories for proof), but I always end up surprising myself with what I can do.
"Hiring McKenzie to photograph our wedding was single-handedly the best decision we made when planning our wedding. Wedding planning and vendor research was so stressful, and once we had Kenzie, she stepped in as support and helped us with narrowing down things that were important to us and to figure out what we really wanted. wish we could get married over and over again just to recreate these and work with Kenzie again! "
"You will not find another wedding photographer who has the McKenzie signature style- she can capture the absolute beauty of the area and people all at once. She can shoot in a variety of settings and lightings and the photos are all gorgeous. One of the main reasons we booked McKenzie was the fact that she showcases a diverse clientele and finds beauty in all beings- something not all photographers can say.As a plus size bride who was extremely worried about looking back at my wedding pictures with dread that I wouldn't look like those gorgeous girlies on Instagram- this meant so much to me. "
"When we got engaged, we searched near and far for an elopement photographer - & we met with several different photographers but none felt right until we met McKenzie. My husband, my dog and I are avid hikers - we wanted a beautiful hike and view, but it was also very important that we could be our authentic selves and intimately celebrate our 10 years together in the way we wanted. I'll be honest, I was shy about wanting to elope (ya know, family opinions and such), but McKenzie made us feel so comfortable in our decision. She wholeheartedly welcomed us being.. us! We couldn't have asked for more."
