Eloping in Crested Butte in the summer is a Colorado dream.

No, it’s not pronounced “butt,” BUT I do love calling it “Crusty butt.” LOL. On a serious note, it is the wildflower capital of the world, and I wish everyone could see all the flowers pop off during the summer. Add that into the effortless mountain views, and I don’t know why more people aren’t eloping in Crested Butte. Yassmin and Roberto wanted an elopement location that had Colorado beauty but was also accessible for their young son – Emerald Lake was the perfect place.

Eloping in Crested Butte is beautiful in the summer.

The Details

  • The biggest priority for these two was getting married in a way where they could incorporate their son without it being stressful. That meant no hiking, so we decided on Emerald Lake in Crested Butte because you can drive right to the lake.
  • I met Yassmin, Roberto, and their son in downtown Crested Butte to take some getting ready photos, and then we rode up to Emerald Lake together.
  • These two shared private vows and then we took some sweet photos of them with their son.
  • On the way back down to town, we stopped along the way to get more photos with the epic backdrop and the wildflowers that Crested Butte is known for.
  • Once we got back from the lake, Roberto and Yassmin went into town to meet up with friends and family for an intimate dinner. It was a simple, laid back day, which was exactly what they wanted!

Must Knows

  • Emerald Lake is a big tourist spot in the summers, so if you want total privacy, I highly recommend eloping on a weekday. It’s also only accessible during the prime summer months, June – August!
  • Emerald Lake is alllllll the way up a dirt road, so you need to have a car that can handle some off-roading. Roberto had a lifted truck with all-wheel drive, so we didn’t have any issues. I always recommend a vehicle with four-wheel drive for my couples traveling to Colorado.
  • If you and bae want to bring along your kiddos or fur babies, I’m always supportive of that! In those situations, I suggest bringing along a family member or friend to help keep them occupied during your vows and photos. It helps take some stress off of you and makes everything go really smooth. These two brought along a friend and it worked out great!
  • Yassmin and Roberto booked a three-hour package for eloping in Crested Butte. It was the perfect amount of time to drive up and back for their elopement at Emerald Lake, and also allowed them to get to dinner at a decent time.
