There are a lot of cute mountain towns in Colorado that I love bringing my couples to.

But one you may not have heard of that’s coming in HOT for the best spot to elope in Colorado is Crested Butte. It’s hidden away in a high valley of the Colorado Rockies, and when I say hidden, I mean winning a game of hide and go seek hidden. That’s one of the best parts about Crested Butte – it’s so remote that the crowds tend to stay away. To get there you’ll have to commit to a roughly four-hour drive from Denver, but it’s so worth it! If you want mountains, lakes, snow, wildflowers, waterfalls, or literally anything else, Crested Butte checks the box.

Eloping in Crested Butte? Here are some tips:

  • You WILL NOT find the exact names of hiking trails or dreamy spots online. That’s why finding the right elopement photographer is so so important. *raises hand* We know where the hidden gems are and like to keep them to ourselves to make sure they stay protected and as beautiful as possible.
  • Before you go jump over to Insta to look for tagged locations, let me stop you there boo. Tagging locations goes against Leave No Trace practices, so you won’t find your dream spot on social media either. Find a photographer you trust and we’ll take care of it. Promise.
  • You can elope in Crested Butte during whatever season your heart desires! Whether you want to elope on a fresh blanket of snow or want to smell all the gorgeous wildflowers, there’s beauty all year round.
  • The majority of locations require permits, booking fees, or reservations to make sure you get the date and time you want. Again, your photographer should handle all of this for you, but something to keep in mind.
